Description
Wow, two traditionally drawn & colors pictures within the last 6 months? I'm on a roll! This picture was LONG overdue, as I scanned this back in November!
...My own mediocre drawing skills don't do (one of) my favorite monsters enough justice, but I am trying to improve when I have time! Perhaps I'll fix up the coloring job on this later on.
My apologies for the crappy job drawing the buildings. I wanted to give it a warped, surreal style, but I screwed up.
Anyway, this is a "deep one", the humanoid fish creatures featured in H.P. Lovecraft's stories: Dagon, and The Shadow over Innsmouth. They have appeared in other cosmic horror and Cthulhu Mythos fiction, like the work of August Derleth and C.W. Smith- two of Lovecraft's contemporaries.
Perhaps these fishy fellows provided an inspiration for The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) as well.
